Hiking Mt. Sage

Author: Sophie H.
Location: Sandy Spit
Today our early morning began with cereal and a dingy rid to the dock where we would begin our trek up Mt. Sage. We met our fellow AQ shipmates on the dock where we began our 7 mile hike. By far the first 20-40 minutes were the most grueling even for experienced hikers. The spectacular views, many billy goats, and the cultural experience, made us realize that the end result is not as important as the journey. In the end, we were rewarded by Cheese Burgers in Paradise, a much needed meal. Once we has arrived back to our floating home, we prepared for our underwater trash survey. It was quite an interesting afternoon. Jamie and Zandy went on land to count the pay phones, while Megan and John counted moorings. I drew the survey map and Andy, Ali, Taylor, Sara, Emily, Matt, Danielle, and Anmargaret were our underwater crew! Later we motored to Sandy Spit to meet up with the other AQ ships. We had our franks and beans dinner to end our rewarding day!
