To the Galapagos...

Author: Maddie
Location: Quito to Galapagos
Today was our first day in the Galapagos! We all woke up early (and drowsy,) in order to catch our 7:30 flight to Baltra, one of the islands. Once there, we grabbed a ferry to take us to the island we will be staying on for the next week, Santa Cruz. The water is unbelievably blue here and absolutely beautiful. Once we were settled at the hotel, Hotel Castro, we went out to lunch, then all piled onto two water taxis that took us across the island, where we then stumbled over a rocky, yet amazing trail to a gorge named Las Grietas where we swam, snorkeled, and jumped off of some small cliffs. It was more of a local hangout, with some obvious pros jumping off of the highest peaks, and most of us going off somewhere in the middle. Back at the hotel we all took the opportunity to wash up for a dinner of spaghetti, and passion fruit or blackberry juice. Back at the hotel, we spent the night brainstorming five things that we bring to our Lifeworks group, five things that we look forward to, and five things that could hold us back, (a lot of people's answers having something to do with the language barrier). All in all, it was a great first day in the Galapagos.
