This is the Title of Lauren's Untitled Blog Entry :)

Location: San Cristobal
At 6:45 our alarm went off and we stumbled out of bed. When we finished eating breakfast, eggs with a selection of fresh fruit, we walked up and down the hilly streets of San Cristobal. Twenty minutes later we reach our destination, the Interpretation Center. The Interpretation Centre is a place for people to visit if they want to learn about the development and history of the Galapagos Islands.

We started our first day of community service on San Cristobal by staining the wooden walkway and railings. We also polished the wood inside of some of the buildings as well as wash the windows.

When we broke for lunch at 2:00 everyone was glad there was time to take a dip in the hotel pool. After a quick game of categories, a game where you want to silently speed across the pool before being tackled, we went back to work.

We retraced our steps past the Interpretation Centre to get to the beaches, collecting garbage along the way. Once all of the garbage to be seen was being hauled over our shoulders in black trash bags we were free to have some beach time. Although, first we took a hike up a hill which left us all short of breath. If possible, the view left us with even less breath. We also hiked up to the point where Charles Darwin first set foot on his voyage throughout the Galapagos Islands.
We were finally able to sink our feet into the fine, white sand and see over fifty sea lions lying close together in groups of twos or threes. That is when we decided that the picture would be complete if we went kayaking. With the sea lions circling around us and the sun was setting in the background it looked as though someone had ripped this image out of a magazine instead of having a friend snap it for us.

We walked to dinner dripping wet, the restaurant was located right across from the docks and I knew it would be close to impossible for the day to get any better.

We backtracked our steps, once again to the hotel. A few of us jumped into the pool for an evening swim and believe it or not the blanket of stars above us made the day even better. Our night activity was when everyone swung their feet in the pool and we shared our high and low points since reaching San Cristobal. We also had a chance to openly appreciate someone if there was one thing they did that stood out to us.

We slowly drifted off one by one to the kitchen for a snack, or to lay lazily in our hammocks on the balcony as the bewitching hour approached.
