Hike Day and more!

Today was hike day. Most everyone (with few exceptions for injury, illness, and lazyness) climbed Mt. Sage on Tortola. The 3.5 mile road that leads to the trail is a STEEP climb and those who made it walked back tired and exhausted. The town, however, was an extremely pleasant place to be, a nice breeze, good food and most importantly a grocery store for all of us to fill up on snacks. After the long needed phone and town time, we shipped out to Sandy Cay for a sand castle building contest. A contest in which after arriving fashionably late, we had only seven minutes to construct an awesome turtle with "turtle" in Chinese on its shell. While other teams had hours to create the pyramids of Giza and the sphinx, we laughed at our turtle and jumped in the water. Our prize for being such good sports was a refreshing and well needed hibiclense shower! Dinner was at Jost van Dyke, a live reggae band played as the entire fleet began napping on the plastic tables. Waking up at 5:45, staying up until 11, hiking (or not) up the tallest peak in the BVI, was well worth the exhaustion because after our hard work our funny little international turtle WON the contest!!
