Play date with the Jost van Dyke kids

Author: Fanny W.
Location: Sea Cows Bay, Tortola
We all learned from our mistakes we made on the first night on the boat and got way more sleep, resulting in way happier people in the morning. We started the day off with a family style breakfast and then got straight to sailing toward our next destination, Jost van Dyke. It was cool to see how everyone was slowly starting to understand the different procedures of getting the boat underway, thought I'll admit, I'm still pretty confused. When we finally reached our destination, we were met by a group of about 10 kids. We were all kind of awkward at first, but after a few goofy ice breakers we were all laughing and making fools out of ourselves. Soon we were running around with the kids in their neighborhood, even some of the younger ones rode on our backs. Now, I can't speak for the whole group, but as we walked around I noticed some of the condtions these families lived in weren't so great yet these kids walked around with wide eyes and big smiles on their faces.it was something to admire. Later, the kids came back to our boat and ate some PBandJ's and soon after went snorkeling (saw some really cool fish). It wasn't long til we said our goodbyes and were out at sea once again. Now we are getting ready for dinner, anchored a couple hundred feet from shore. The sun is setting, we are surrounded by a world that is close to perfect. We are a lucky group of people; not only do we get to experience this physical beauty, we get to experience an emotional beauty that is so much deeper.
